Amor Artis Brewing
About us
THE LOVE OF CRAFT
Amor Artis Brewing is a family-owned, quality-focused, community-based brewery located in historic downtown Fort Mill, South Carolina. The mission of Amor Artis is to sustain the name: the love of craft.
The goal is this: to respect tradition while pushing its boundaries in order to ensure the best-tasting and most enjoyable beer possible.
Because it’s less about the style or the IBU. It’s about the love of the craft. FROM DAYDREAM TO AMERICAN DREAM
Co-founder Travis Tolson went from home brewing at his garage in upstate New York to creating brews in the Last Frontier of Alaska. After brewing for and managing a brewpub in Asheville, NC, he finally opened up his own shop in Fort Mill, SC.
Co-founder Steve Tolson graduated from Davidson with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and then a master's degree in biology from the Citadel. Originally hailing from Fort Mill, the brothers found it fitting to return to their hometown to continue to grow their roots, and to do what they love: Brew great beer!
To the Tolson brothers, sharing their love and passion for craft beer and community togetherness isn't just a job. It's a lifestyle they look forward to sharing with you.
Meet our talented
team below.
Travis Tolson
Before opening Amor Artis, co-founder Travis Tolson went from home brewing in his garage in upstate New York to creating brews in the Last Frontier of Alaska. After brewing for and managing the Wicked Weed brewpub in Asheville, North Carolina, he finally opened up his own shop in Fort Mill. In his free time, he enjoys being a father to his son Carter and daughter Stevie, camping, crossfit, and putting Jesse to shame at golf.
Steve Tolson
Co-founder Steve Tolson graduated from Davidson with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and then a master's degree in biology from the Citadel. After working in chemical sales for a number of years, he decided it was time to turn the brothers' dream into a reality. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his fiance' and son, golfing, asking his mom to iron his clothes, and being a “fun uncle” to Carter and Stevie.
Khara Tolson
Khara's coast guard career brought them to Kodiak Island where Travis picked up his first brewing job. After their son Carter was born, they moved to Asheville until Travis decided to start the brewery, which Khara backed 100%! After making Fort Mill their home, the rest is history. When she's not away on Coast Guard duty, coordinating swag, fundraisers, music and events, Khara enjoys OrangeTheory Fitness, tending to her house plants, and being a mom to her and Travis's two children.
Jesse Hooper
Having spent his whole life in Rock Hill, Jesse is the middle child of two parents who raised their children on great food and love. He claims that baseball taught him most of the important lessons about life. His love of flavor doesn't stop with food (or the Jesse Beard Awards) and beer quickly became a passion. He'll never look back from entering the beer industry. He and his gorgeous wife Kaela enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending any kind of time outdoors.
Caitlin Gard
Caitlin studied photography at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, but beer is her life. After working for a stint at Cape May Brewing in Jersey, she came back to York County to work with us! When she isn't in the taproom, she's probably playing with her pups and/or spending time in the mountains with her boyfriend, Rhett.
Kyle Cassidy
Kyle is the true "OG" of Fort Mill. He's been here forever. He loves cats, his girlfriend Naya, and making the meanest pizza roll bowl you've ever seen.
Isabelle Dyckes
Issy was born and raised in Fort Mill. After attending and playing soccer at Spartanburg Methodist she settled back in fort mill. When she isn't working she enjoys hanging out with friends cuddling and going on walks with her dog, Paxton, and playing soccer. On long car rides or when she is opening you can find her listening to Audio books mostly about Star Wars. Hehe!
Kelsey Cotton
Kelsey was born & raised on Long Island. She went to college right outside of Baltimore, and after graduating moved down to the Fort Mill area where she has been for a little over five years. When she isn't slinging/drinking beers, you can find her reading, listening to music & going to live shows, or cuddling up with her sweet cat, Seymour, watching college football or the latest trash reality show.
Bailey Gerney
Bailey is a born and raised southern gal from Matthews, NC. After attending UNC Charlotte, a career and need for a change in scenery brought her to South Kakilacky. Now she's a full time mom by day, and part time pint filler by night. During her free time, you can find her petting all the dogs, Running, DIY-ing her old home, or hanging with her awesome toddler and 2 pups.
Andrew Leffler
Andrew is originally from Illinois, grew up mostly in Fort Mill but has moved around quite a bit! When not working he's either spending time with his daughter, reading, playing video games, or watching anything funny.
Alyssa
Alyssa recently moved to the area from Upstate New York in search of more sun and warmer weather. Marketer by day and a professional beer pourer by night. In her free time you can find her adventuring with her pup Brody, fitnessing, practicing her Dad jokes, and trying all your best restaurant recommendations.
Hannah
Hannah is a Fort Mill native and mom to two fluffy boys (cats). Fun fact! Hannah and her fiancé had their first date at Amor Artis!
